Choosing the ri

ght PCB material is critical for high frequency and RF applications. FR-4 and Rogers are the two most common choices.
FR-4: Standard epoxy glass laminate, low cost. Dk around 4.2-4.5. Best for digital and low-frequency circuits.
Rogers: High-performance laminate. Dk as low as 2.2, loss tangent as low as 0.001. Best for RF/microwave, mmWave, antenna designs.
Key Differences:
1. Cost: FR-4 is cheap. Rogers can be 5-10x more expensive.
2. Frequency: FR-4 works up to 1-2 GHz. Rogers supports 10+ GHz.
3. Dk tolerance: Rogers offers tighter control for impedance matching.
4. Thermal: Rogers handles higher temperatures better.
Choose Rogers when operating above 1 GHz, needing 50 ohm RF matching, or low-loss signal paths. For most custom PCBA, FR-4 is the cost-effective choice.
